From Heyman (via twitter):
today the yankees are going to make a “very strong” 6 year offer to lee. best guess: $23 million per year.
We keep hearing that it’s about the years for Lee, but a 6 year deal at $23m is pretty darn attractive. I’m guessing the team will ratchet that up to $25m to keep it at 6 years. If a seven year offer exists, I find it hard to believe it will be for an AAV on par with the Yanks. A seven year deal at $21m per is about the same as a six year deal at $24m, especially once you discount to present value.
More to come, to be sure.
